Organized by China’s leading lifestyle platform, Xiaohongshu, the festival celebrated the essence of urban life and creativity, transforming the streets of Shanghai into a hub of activity and cultural exchange.

Highlights of the Festival
One of the major attractions was the debut of the “Duck on the Street” art installation along the Huangpu River, a symbol of joy and creativity that quickly became a hit among festival-goers. The event also featured three outdoor concerts and a bustling marketplace of over 100 stalls, showcasing the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of local businesses.
Five themed street routes captured the essence of different aspects of urban life. On “Glowing Street”, attendees admired art and poetry created by Xiaohongshu users, uniquely displayed on T-shirts and socks hanging on drying racks—a tribute to the historic Shanghainese alleys. Meanwhile, musicians filled the streets with impromptu performances, creating a musical backdrop that ranged from violins to the traditional guzheng.
On “Foodie Street”, food lovers were treated to culinary delights from new cafes and vendors. Special festival passports encouraged visitors to explore the food options and collect stamps, offering souvenirs to commemorate the experience.

Engaging the Community and Local Economy
The 10-day festival attracted nearly 600,000 participants to its offline events and boosted the local economy significantly. Nearly 3,000 Xiaohongshu creators contributed content and interactive experiences that connected online and offline communities. Some shops reported a 20-30% increase in weekday sales, while weekend sales soared by as much as 50%.
The festival’s ability to merge online interaction with offline experiences created a seamless loop of engagement. Xiaohongshu users who initially interacted with businesses online were able to connect with them in person during the festival, further enhancing brand trust and consumer interest.

Promoting Youth Culture and Innovation
Xiaohongshu’s Street Life Festival is more than just a celebration of urban living; it also serves as a platform for youth to express their creativity. Through art, music, and entrepreneurship, young creators were able to showcase their talents and build stronger connections within the Xiaohongshu community and beyond.

A Vision for the Future
Organizers hope that the Street Life Festival will continue to grow and explore innovative consumption models, promoting a deeper connection between Xiaohongshu’s online platform, its users, and the wider community. By fostering these interactions, the festival aims to contribute to the flourishing development of youth culture and Shanghai’s vibrant urban life.\n\n[/cs_content_seo][/cs_element_layout_column][/cs_element_layout_row][/cs_element_section][/cs_content]
