The 24th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), hosted by China's Ministry of Commerce, is being held in Xiamen from September 8 to 11, 2024. As one of the world’s premier platforms for promoting global investment, CIFIT this year embraces the Global Development Initiative under the theme “Expanding Two-Way Investment, Jointly Facilitating Global Development.” With a focus on high-quality inward and outward investment, the event aims to strengthen multilateral and bilateral economic exchanges, driving collaboration in the digital and green industries.

A Global Platform for Investment and Trade

This year’s CIFIT spans an impressive 120,000 square meters and is divided into three thematic exhibition areas: Investment Promotion, Industrial Innovation and Development, and Project Matchmaking. More than 100 events will take place during the fair, including the Exchange of the Global Alliance of Special Economic Zones and the Digital Economy Matchmaking and Exchange among BRICS Countries. CIFIT is expected to attract over 80,000 participants, including representatives from more than 1,000 government agencies and business groups from 119 countries and regions.

Fostering Multilateral Cooperation and Green Growth

CIFIT 2024 emphasizes international cooperation, particularly through the Global Development Initiative and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Approximately 80% of the countries participating in this year’s event are partners of the BRI, reinforcing the fair's commitment to building a global community of shared growth and prosperity. The event also promotes green and digital industries, highlighting investment opportunities in sectors that are key to sustainable development.

Hungary: The Guest of Honor Country

This year, Hungary takes center stage as the Guest of Honor Country. Known as the “Pearl of the Danube” and a critical gateway to the European Union, Hungary is an important partner in Belt and Road cooperation. The country has seen increased investment from Fujianese enterprises, solidifying its position as a top destination for Chinese investors.

Hungary’s national pavilion, covering 450 square meters, showcases the country’s technological and cultural innovations. Visitors can explore interactive displays, virtual reality installations, and a Rubik's cube exhibit representing Hungary’s national heritage. The pavilion will also host a series of themed events to promote investment opportunities in sectors such as logistics, automotive, and agriculture.

Expanding Two-Way Investment and Global Partnerships

At its core, CIFIT 2024 is about fostering high-level investment cooperation. The event promotes opportunities for countries to open up their markets, share resources, and create partnerships that drive economic growth. By encouraging investment in innovative industries, including clean energy and digital transformation, CIFIT serves as a catalyst for sustainable global development.

With its international reach and commitment to inclusive, green growth, CIFIT 2024 is poised to further enhance China’s role as a global leader in trade and investment, while also supporting the growth of developing economies around the world.

Global Investment and Collaboration for a Sustainable Future

CIFIT 2024 is more than an investment fair—it is a platform for global collaboration, where countries come together to explore new avenues for trade, investment, and sustainable growth. From Hungary's participation as the Guest of Honor to the focus on green industries and digital transformation, CIFIT continues to shape the future of international trade, fostering opportunities for mutual development and prosperity.
