The 2024 Belt and Road Journalists Forum to Be Held in Chongqing

This marks the first time the event will be held outside Beijing, reflecting Chongqing’s growing significance in China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The forum will bring together nearly 100 leaders from journalists’ organizations and media outlets from 50 countries, along with over 80 Chinese media professionals. The event, themed “Expand the Path of Opportunities, Share a Bright Future,” aims to deepen cooperation among Belt and Road Journalists Network (BRJN) members, enhancing mutual understanding and people-to-people connections.

Media Delegates to Explore Chongqing’s Urban and Cultural Highlights
From August 27 to 30, delegates will visit key sites in Chongqing, such as the Chongqing International Logistics Hub, Inland China Exhibition Center, and the Seres Super Factory in Liangjiang New Area. These visits will showcase Chongqing’s advancements in technological innovation, smart manufacturing, and urban development. Delegates will also explore cultural landmarks, including the Dazu Rock Carvings and the Panda Pavilion at Chongqing Zoo, to experience the city’s rich history and natural beauty.

Forum Events and Launch of the Belt and Road Journalists’ Station
On August 30, the forum will host seminars with international media, a consultant appointments ceremony for the “International Home of Journalists,” and release a joint global news cooperation initiative. The forum’s opening ceremony will be on August 31, followed by a roundtable with international journalists’ organizations and the inauguration of the Belt and Road Journalists’ Station in Chongqing.

Chongqing, located in southwestern China, is a critical player in China’s Large-Scale Western Development Initiative and a junction of the BRI and the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
